Vinyl retractable shade pieces can be installed on pergolas, but these should be used with caution in rainy or snowy weather and are better suited for blocking out the harsh sun.

Be sure to retract your awning if high winds become present, as the lack of leading edge supports makes the susceptible to wind gusts.
